Lee County NC School Information
In Sanford North Carolina the public Lee County School system has fourteen different public schools, almost eleven thousand students and about three hundred teachers. The Lee county public school systems student to teacher ratio is approximately 32 to 1. The type of schools in Lee County include elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and specialized schools.
Elementary Schools
There are seven elementary schools in the Lee County School system. Six of these schools operate on a traditional calendar and students are assigned by attendance district. Tramway Elementary School operates on a modified year-round calendar. Students have to apply to attend Tramway Elementary, and space is limited.
Middle Schools
There are two middle schools in the Lee County school system. An additional middle school is currently under construction.
High Schools
For many years, Lee County had one high school, Lee County High School. Many local residents call this high school "Lee Senior", referring to when the county had junior high schools instead of the current middle schools. A second high school, Southern Lee High School opened in 2005. Lee Early College was founded in 2006 and is a program run in coordination with Central Carolina Community College. Lee Early College students attend school for 5 years and receive a high school diploma AND associates degree upon graduation.
Specialized Schools
Lee County has two Specialized Schools.
