Introduction to Sanford, North Carolina
Sanford, North Carolina, in Lee county, is 31 miles SW of Cary, North Carolina (center to center) and 36 miles SW of Raleigh, North Carolina. The city has a population of just over 25,000. The present day city of Sanford was named after C.O. Sanford, a railroad civil engineer. Sanford is the county seat of Lee County, which was established in 1907. The town of Jonesboro, another major town of the county, merged with the city in the late 20th century and was renamed as Jonesboro Heights. The Sanford Herald, the city’s newspaper, was first published in 1930.

There are several open spaces and parks in Sanford including Depot Park, Deep River Sporting Clays, and SanLee Park. It is also worth visiting the Railroad House Museum. Shopping can be enjoyed at the Kendale Shopping Center, Sanford Mall, and Sanford Shopping Center. The Sanford Municipal Golf Course is an ideal destination for golf lovers, and it offers an eye-catching view of Buffalo Creek. It also has a large driving range. Golfers can also visit the Tobacco Road Golf Course.
